  Valerie Metzler's Inquiry of
applied science learning

APPLIED Science LEARNING:

What happens when students are immersed in applied science learning opportunities in and outside the classroom?

I predict that students will be more motivated to engage with science content, will be able to expand upon their knowledge, and will create more enduring understandings of the content when immersed in applied science learning opportunities. Although they do not encapsulate all modalities of applied science learning, I chose the following four categories as methods to facilitate experiential learning among students to apply science content to real-life scenarios. Click here to read more about why I chose to inquire about applied learning.

As you go through this website, notice that each category of applied learning is represented by a particular symbol. Some strategies discussed fall under multiple methods, which is shown by the use of multiple symbols. This representation emphasizes that the categories do not stand alone, but are interconnected. Use the photo links to explore each of the four categories and review lessons and other artifacts. Use the pop-out navigation bar on the top left to find lessons and other requirements, including the unit plan, video, lesson plan, etc.
